My Comment: This is also declared 100% natural by Samuel Gawith, which is impossible! The smell, and later the taste and aroma, are all very intriguingly sweet and heavily flavored. It somehow smells of a mysterious combination of exotic spices! During the smoke, the taste changes from sweet, to bitter, to spicy, etc. The smell to non-smokers is very pleasant though could be overwhelming at first. This is definitely a tobacco that offers an unusual, and yet pleasant, smoking experience.

Type: Flavored Virginia
Strength: 8-9

My Comment: This is the plug version of Cob Flake (1792). So description will be the same, except that this will: (1) allow you better control over the thickness of the flake and eventually how it smokes, and (2) the taste is a bit rounder, though not necessarily stronger (could it anyway be stronger?!).

Name/No.: Grousemoor Plug
Type: Flavored Virginia
Strength: 5

My Comment: The smell reminds my wife of that of baking cookies!. When it's burning, it produces a very sweet aroma at the beginning and then dissipates into a less evident, and yet pleasant, aroma. The taste is also VERY sweet, without being irritatingly so. Highly recommended if you're after a traditional British Virginia that is serious and yet sweet.

Name/No.: Kendal Plug
Type: Natural Virginia
Strength: 5

My Comment: Who knows Samuel Gawith knows their famous Kendal Plug. The tobacco has a naturally sweet smell, and when burning, it produces a very pleasant room aroma. The taste tends to be sweetish, particularly at the beginning, and then slowly the sweetness gives some way to a whole range of taste variations, all very pleasant. It burns so slowly and evenly. I also find it to be a very satisfying smoke.

My Comment: Though this is the darkest Samuel Gawith Plug, it's one of the smoothest. The tobacco is easy to slice, rub out and pack. I believe it's best smoked slowly, in a medium-size pipe, and after dinner (I personally can't smoke it on an empty stomach!). The taste is really delicious, and the aroma is so pleasant to who smokes it, as well as to the people around him/her. If you're used to smoking medium-full natural Virginia flakes and would like to try a Plug, I recommend this one highly.
